Earthquakes hit Hsinchu, Yilan, and Hualien

Early Friday morning, three areas of the island were struck by earthquakes. Two earthquakes of 4.0 and 4.1 Richter magnitude respectively at 01:05 am and 02:00 am local time hit Hengshan Township of Hsinchu County. The largest intensity of earthquake motion took place in Jhudong Township of Hsinchu, which registered 3 on the Richter scale.

Later in the early morning Jiaoshi Township and Nanao Township of Yilan County were struck by an earthquake of Richter magnitude 4.0 at 01:48 am. The largest intensity of earthquake motion was found in Nanao, which registered 2 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake in Hualien of Richter magnitude of 3.4 happened at 03:42 am. The intensity of tremors found in Nanao of Yilan and Taroko of Hualien respectively registered 2 and 1 on the Richter scale.
