Hon Hai Group Chairman Terry Gou came out in support of Sean Lien on Wednesday, saying that Lien understands the economy and should enter the mayoral election in Taipei City. "We should hand him leadership in Taipei," noted Gou, adding that "He grew up in Taipei…and for the sake of the people of Taipei, I will vote for him."

Gou is a member of a delegation of political and business leaders now in China with KMT Honorary Chairman Lien Chan. The group was at Beijing's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Wednesday afternoon for a forum with representatives from various circles in China.

During the forum Gou said, "I have a dream for Taiwan." The first part of the dream, he continued, is “ongoing peaceful development of cross-strait relations," and the second part is "a win-win situation on both sides of the strait and a joint realization of the Chinese dream." He added that "the new generation of youth are all proud of China."

Following the meeting Gou was asked his opinion of Sean Lien and responded with the comment that unlike most politicians, “at least Sean Lien understands the economy.”

Gou also called the younger Lien a "survivor" who has been tested by the "reality of blood." Anyone who has been shot in the head will have reservations about running for public office, said Gou, saying that “Some people now talk about [the shooting] and are hypocrites who don’t even mention Sean Lien, but I want to mention him."
