Cold front to bring mercury down in northern, eastern Taiwan

Taipei, March 1 (CNA) Daytime high temperatures are likely to drop by some 9 degrees Celsius in northern and eastern Taiwan Sunday under the influence of a cold front, the Central Weather Bureau said Saturday. The front could be at its strongest between Sunday and Monday, bringing lows down to about 12 degrees in northern Taiwan, forecasters said. Chances of rain are also likely to increase in northern and eastern Taiwan from Sunday, with the humid weather expected to prevail throughout the coming week, according to the bureau. The front might begin to weaken from March 4, with highs increasing by 3-4 degrees in the north and east. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to hover around 14-17 degrees in northern Taiwan, 14-21 degrees in central Taiwan and 17-25 degrees in the south. (By Angela Tsai and Lee Hsin-Yin)
