Colombian rider Carlos Betancur wins stage 6 of Paris-Nice to take overall lead

FAYENCE, France (AP) -- Carlos Betancur outsprinted world champion Rui Costa to win the sixth stage of Paris-Nice and take the overall lead on Friday in the week-long race.

The Colombian took more than 5 hours to ride 221.5 kilometers from Saint-Saturnin-les-Avignon to Fayence. Zdenek Stybar finished third in the same time as Geraint Thomas, both three seconds off the pace.

Betancur, who also won the fifth stage on Thursday, leads Thomas by eight seconds in the overall standings and Costa by 18 seconds.
