Taipei, April 3 (CNA) A water-themed festival is set for mid-month to bring seminars and fun events around Taiwan to talk up yacht travel as tourism and transportation authorities push to promote marine-based tourism. The Tourism Bureau and Maritime and Port Bureau (MPB) hope the events, announced Thursday, will raise public interest in taking to the waters for fun. "Taiwan is surrounded by the sea, but the benefits of that have not been utilized well enough in the travel business," said MPB Director General Chi Wen-chong. Events are set for April 12 in Taipei, April 26 in the southern county of Pingtung and May 3 in the central city of Taichung and will feature free yacht rides and guided tours to introduce how boats operate, as well as street performers in the harbor. A parallel series of seminars will bring industry representatives, government officials and academics together to discuss development in the market for yacht tourism.
