Taipei, April 19 (CNA) Changhua County opened part of its hot spring facilities in Shetou Friday, following the recent completion of the first-phase of construction work. At the opening ceremony, Changhua Magistrate Cho Po-yuan said official records show that the Bagua Mountain hot spring industry was once a booming business. The county government has been actively developing the hot spring resources as part of its efforts to promote local tourism, he said. The first phase of the development project included the construction of two hot spring pools and another one for foot soaking, Cho said. The indoor hot springs are in no way inferior to those in the northeast county of Yilan or in Japan, he said. The tender for part of the second-phase construction of the hot spring resort, which will include a conference room, restaurants and landscape facilities, has been completed and the county government plans to invite private investors to build upscale hotels in the area, according to Cho.
