BOSTON (AP) -- In her new book, "A Fighting Chance," U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren describes a life spent fighting for economic fairness for U.S. working families.

The Massachusetts Democrat begins with her early years as an eager teenager and young mother trying to chart a path in the world from her home in Oklahoma. After twists and turns, Warren lands a job as a law professor at Harvard University.

With that comes the beginning of a political career that would take her to Washington's corridors of power, then her victory in 2012 in a hard-fought Senate contest against incumbent Republican Scott Brown.

But Warren's focus in the book remains the plight of struggling families outmatched by the rich and powerful and their access to Washington decision makers.
