Children of new immigrants become the important human resources in Taiwan in future, Vice Minister of Interior says

The number of new immigrants is growing, their children will become the important human resources in Taiwan in the near future, Chen Chun-ching, the Vice Ministry of Interior said. He also said that it will strengthen the mother tongue education for the children of new immigrants, cultivating the talents of interpreters in the near future.

Chen noted that Ministry of Interior is currently cooperating with Ministry of Education to cultivate the lecturers for teaching the mother tongue of new immigrants and talents of interpreters. The majority of new immigrants come from South-East Asian Nations. Thus, their children are expected to take the important place in global trade.

There is the maximum of new immigrants in New Taipei City. The government always regards the education of new immigrants’ as the one of the most important things, Hou Yu-yi, the Deputy Mayor of New Taipei City said at 2014 new immigrant cooking competition on May 3.

The Director-General of National Immigration Agency (NIA) Hsieh Li-kung said that more and more children of new immigrants learn their mother tongues will make Taiwan more competitive. Following the economy of South-East Asia nations are growing, the demand of interpreters for South-East Asia languages will increase in the near future.
