Cheesecake Factory to open restaurant in Taiwan

Taipei, May 23 (CNA) American restaurant brand Cheesecake Factory is planning its first restaurant in Taiwan as part of an international expansion plan. The company said that the exact location of the restaurant and when it will open are yet to be confirmed. Cheesecake Factory Inc. said in a statement dated May 19 that it has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Hong Kong-based Maxim's Caterers and plans the development of at least 14 restaurants over the next decade in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and China. Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are also destinations under consideration, the statement said, adding that the first restaurant is expected to open in fiscal 2015 in Hong Kong. "Our brand has experienced a tremendous level of success outside of the U.S.A. and we are excited to announce another step forward in our global expansion efforts," said David Overton, chairman and CEO of Cheesecake Factory.
