Premier Jiang Yi-huah is expected to authorize a new smart electric vehicle development program soon. In the past, government resources have mostly been used to foster small electric passenger cars. Starting this year, the government will devote more resources to electric buses in an effort to replace Taiwan’s over 6,000 diesel buses within ten years and encourage the replacement of rental motorcycles in the outer islands with electric equivalents.

In terms of budget planning, the Environmental Protection Administration will allocate NT$9 billion over ten years to support this new policy, and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications will also appropriate a portion of its funding. The Ministry of Economic Affairs utilize the stage two demonstration program to invest NT$1 billion within three years.

Electric bus concept stocks include Mechema (4721), Aleees (5227), Simplo Technology (6121), and CAEC (8038).
