Singer Jay Chou to share music with students

Taipei, May 27 (CNA) Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jay Chou will temporarily put aside his celebrity persona and become a teacher in June when he will share his music-making experience with hundreds of students. Chou, one of the biggest names in the Mandarin pop music scene, is scheduled to give a lecture to 800 students at the ATT Show Box in Taipei June 24, the organizers announced Tuesday. His talk will be part of a series of lectures to be featured at the first Golden Melody Global Music Festival, which is being held to promote the Golden Melody Awards and includes lectures, concerts, exhibitions, forums and music workshops. Chou said it will be the first time he has participated in an event of this kind and he expressed hope that he will be able to contribute to the pop music scene in Taiwan and be of help to students interested in making their own music. The multiple Golden Melody Award-winner is also serving as a celebrity spokesman for the awards, Taiwan's equivalent of the Grammys. The awards ceremony will take place June 28 at the Taipei Arena.
