San Salvador, El Salvador May 31 (CNA) Premier Jiang Yi-huah arrived in El Salvador Saturday and met with president-elect Salvador Sanchez Ceren and vice president-elect Oscar Ortiz, as both leaders spoke of the good relations between the two countries and their hope to further strengthen the mutual bonds. Jiang, scheduled to attend the June 1 inauguration of the El Salvador president on behalf of President Ma Ying-jeou, arrived at El Salvador International Airport on Saturday morning. Jiang said he hoped to take advantage of his presence in El Salvador to exchange ideas and discuss cooperative programs with El Salvador officials. This is his first overseas trip since he took office in February 2013. After his arrival, the premier, his wife Li Shu-chen, and his entourage drove to Casa Presidencial of El Salvador to visit El Salvador's first lady, Vanda Pignato. Jiang Yi-huah invited Pignato to bring her six-year-old son to Taiwan after her husband steps down from office. Jiang also met with president-elect Sanchez Ceren, who welcomed his visit and said the friendship between the Republic of China and El Salvador remains solid. Meanwhile, vice president-elect Ortiz and a number of cabinet members traveled to Jiang's hotel to meet with him. Ortiz promised that the new administration is determined to strengthen diplomatic bonds with Taiwan in the future. Jiang is to fly back to Taiwan following a state banquet on Sunday noon.
