Taipei, June 2 (CNA) Yu Chia-hui, one of the members of a popular girl group in Taiwan in the 1980s, committed suicide and was found dead in her apartment Sunday, leaving behind three children. The 43-year-old singer-actress, said to have been suffering from depression, killed herself in her apartment in Taichung. She did not leave a note. Medical examiners and prosecutors determined the case as a charcoal-burning suicide on Monday after examining her body. Yu's brother told reporters his sister has been depressed ever since their father died two years ago. He said Yu maintained a close relationship with the family and they did not notice any abnormal behavior from her recently. She is survived by three children from her two marriages, which both ended in divorce. More commonly known by her stage name Huan Huan, Yu was a member of the two-member girl group "Yu Huan Pai Tui" (Yu Huan Party), which was active from 1988 to 1990. Along with her duet partner "Yu Yu" Tsai Yu-lun, the duo released three albums before disbanding. Since then, Yu had taken acting roles in TV dramas and appeared as a guest on TV talk shows. Yu's celebrity friends, including Chang Ko-fan, Nicky Wu and Alec Su, took to their social media sites Monday to mourn her death. (By Christie Chen and Chen Shu-fen)
