Taipei, June 8 (CNA) A Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) worker in the eastern county of Hualien has been named an exemplary employee for his incredible record of not taking a single day of leave -- even for illness -- over the past 24 years. Yang Chao-shun has coordinated train times and operated switch machines and control signals at Heren Station, a cargo shipment station, since he joined the TRA in 1989. Heren has the highest cargo transport volume of any TRA station at 13,000 metric tons a day, according to Hualien operations section chief Chang Chien-li on Sunday, noting that the station has suffered from a lack of personnel on top of its heavy workload. "Staff at the station have not had time for breaks, but Yang Chao-shun has not ever asked for leave, not even for one day," Chang said. Yang will be honored for his unwavering commitment alongside 19 other distinguished TRA employees Monday, when the TRA holds an event to celebrate 127 years of rail services in Taiwan.
