Taipei, June 9 (CNA) The British office in Taiwan is gearing up to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 88th birthday with a party set for Wednesday. The celebration in Taipei will be hosted by Chris Wood, director of the British Trade and Cultural Office in Taiwan. At the event, the office will play a number of short videos to introduce different aspects of the United Kingdom, including shorts titled "Sounds of Great Britain," "U.K. -- your destination for investment" and "Romeo & Juliet" as presented by the Royal Ballet, according to the office. Meanwhile, a series of events to mark the 450th anniversary of the birth of the world's pre-eminent playwright William Shakespeare will also be held in Taiwan this year as part of world-wide celebrations of the bard and his legacy, Wood said. Planned festivities include a staging of "Romeo and Juliet" by the Royal Ballet at Taipei's National Theater in late June and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in October.
