FINHAUT-EMOSSON, France (AP) -- Lieuwe Westra came from behind to win the seventh stage of the Criterium du Dauphine while defending champion Chris Froome lost the overall lead to Alberto Contador on Saturday.

At the 30-kilometer (18.6-mile) mark, Westra initiated a breakaway that included Yuri Trofimov and Egor Silin, and built a lead that reached more than seven minutes after 110 kilometers (68.4 miles).

Trofimov pulled away on the ascent of Col de la Forclaz and was later joined by teammate Silin. But Westra made up ground and overtook them in the last kilometer.

Contador went on the attack two kilometers from the finish as Froome was unable to reply. The Spaniard finished fourth, 20 seconds clear of Froome, who is now eight seconds behind Contador in the overall standings.
