4.4-magnitude earthquake jolts eastern Taiwan

Taipei, June 22 (CNA) An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale hit Hualien County in eastern Taiwan late Sunday, the Central Weather Bureau reported. The earthquake's epicenter was located 31.4 kilometers southwest of Hualien County Hall in Wanrong Township at a depth of 17.3 km. The largest intensity of tremor was detected 4 in Xilin of Huanlien, 2 in Hualien City, 2 in Nantou County and 2 in Yilan. No report of casualty and damage was released as of press time.
