Taipei, June 25 (CNA) EasyCard Corp. said Monday that it will cooperate with the Lion Group to launch an EasyCard tailored to foreign tourists by the end of the year. EasyCard Corp. Chairman Chang Chia-sheng and Lion Group Chairman Wang Wen-chieh signed a strategic alliance agreement earlier Monday, with Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin looking on. Chang said the EasyCard designed for foreign tourists will have different motifs such as the Formosan black bear, Taipei 101, and Pingxi lanterns.

But the company has yet to determine what special functions or benefits the card will offer beyond those found in regular EasyCards. After the launch of the card for foreign visitors, it will be promoted or sold at 79 Lion Group outlets in the initial stage, Chang said. More than 46 million EasyCards have been issued since the program was launched in 2002. The stored-value card is primarily used to pay for public transportation around Taiwan, but can also be used at designated parking lots and convenience stores.
