The Lieutenant Governor of Washington Brad Owen visited Dr. Doris Brougham and praised her devotion to English-teaching education in Taiwan. Doris is the founder of Taiwan’s first and most popular English-learning radio program “Studio Classroom.”

Doris said when she just arrived in Taiwan that was a period when Taiwan was highly dependent on export trade. Thus, she established the Studio Classroom to teach people who most needed the English language to communicate with traders and dealers, offering them the different English learning channels. She is also called as an “English Teacher of Taiwanese.”

Owen said Doris had been devoting herself to Taiwanese’s English-teaching education and her contribution is worthy to receive the recognition. Although she is 88-year-old but stays vital as always.

“Studio Classroom” has been accompanying with students in Taiwan over six decades. Even though we can find many other English magazines in the market and moreover, we have more chances to learn English than past, Studio Classroom is still the important channel for students to practice listening and reading.
