KLAGENFURT, Austria (AP) -- Triathletes Ivan Rana of Spain and Linsey Corbin of the United States posted the fastest times of the season while winning the Ironman Austria event on Sunday.

Rana won the men's race in a personal best mark of 7 hours, 48 minutes, 43 seconds to beat second-place Christian Kramer of Germany by 5:48.

David Plese of Slovenia came 14:11 behind in third.

Rana, who finished sixth at last year's world championship in Hawaii, took the lead after 140 kilometers of cycling and stayed ahead of the field.

Former world champion and pre-race favorite Faris Al-Sultan of Germany, who was third after the swim, was leading the competition when he quit the race because of a flat tire.

Corbin, who also won the event in 2012, finished the women's race in 8:42:42, beating the course record set by fellow American Mary Beth Ellis in 2012 by 56 seconds.

Simone Braendli of Switzerland, who was the fastest swimmer, trailed the American by 6:34 in second place. Lisa Huetthaler of Austria took third, 10.38 off the lead.

Corbin led Huetthaler by just 4 seconds starting the marathon. The Austrian soon failed to match the American's pace and was later overtaken by Braendli.
