President Ma arrives in Honolulu

Honolulu, Hawaii June 30 (CNA) President Ma Ying-jeou arrived here Monday on a refueling stop en route to Panama. He was greeted onboard by Raymond Burghardt, Washington-based chairman of the American Institute in Taiwan. They shook hands and chatted warmly. This is the first leg of Ma's trip to Panama where he will attend the inauguration of President-elect Juan Carlos Varela on July 1 before traveling to El Salvador. It is the president's tenth overseas trip since he first took office in 2008. (By Kelven Huang and Maubo Chang)
