Global Lighting breaks ground at Tongluo Science Park

Global Lighting Technologies (4935) broke ground for its Tongluo plant Sunday. Investment for the two stage plant construction is estimated at NT$2.5 billion. he company emphasized that the goals of this new plant at the Tongluo Science Park are to increase production capacity exponentially and create jobs and tax income for Miaoli County. Miaoli County Magistrate Liu Cheng-hung emphasized the complete support of the county government in creating an excellent investment environment to attract more businesses and plants.

The ground breaking ceremony was hosted by Global Lighting chairman Li Man-hsiang and attended by Liu, legislators Hsu Yao-chang and Chen Chao-ming, and Central Taiwan Science Park Director-General Tu Chi-hsiang. Global Lighting engages in the manufacture and development of light guide plates and possesses extensive light guide technology patents. The first stage of plant construction at Tongluo will consist of a 12,800 ping factory building with manufacturing starting in July 2015. Stage two will be an 8,000 ping factory building with constructed expected to begin in 2016. A total of 10 production lines are planned for the two factory buildings and will gradually add 600 to 1,000 jobs to Miaoli’s economy.

Li pointed out, Global Lighting is a “company with roots.” In the past, the company established plants in China and it is now returning to Taiwan. He hopes the establishment of this new plant at Tongluo Science Park will bring greater capacity and performance to the company.

He stated, bigger and thinner is a global trend for televisions in 2014. Numerous major brands and system foundries employ Global Lighting light guide plates. The goal of the Tongluo plant is to achieve exponential capacity growth and expand the development of product applications to make capacity planning more competitive.

Liu emphasized, Miaoli is aggressively attracting investment. The county government’s track record of one day business license issuance is 100% with government efficiency that leads Taiwan.
