In order to expand the scale of capital markets and enhance international visibility, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) participated in an investment roadshow organized by the Taipei City Government in America’s Silicon Valley to attract outstanding foreign companies to list in Taiwan.

The TWSE stated, this roadshow attracted participation from 40 technology companies and venture capital funds in the San Francisco Bay Area and the TWSE visited a number of venture capital funds and technology companies in the biotechnology medical care, cloud database, and LED lighting equipment industries. By participating in this exchange with Silicon Valley elites, the TWSE aggressively promoted the possibility of these technology companies and venture capital funds listing in Taiwan.

TWSE senior executive vice president Chien Lih-chung stated, Taiwan has an extensive and diverse technology industry and a comprehensive upstream and downstream supply chain. Listed technology companies account for over half of overall market capitalization. Number of listed foreign issuer stocks total 38 with 17 electronic and biotechnology medical care issues accounting for 47% of foreign issuer stock market capitalization.

Moreover, foreign issues have performed well after listing. A rough estimate based on recent market prices indicates that the overall market capitalization of foreign issues is over four times their pre-listing net worth, significantly higher than the 170% of the main board.
