BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) -- Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff says her country has proven doubters of her nation's ability to organize a great World Cup wrong.

Rousseff spoke with a group of foreign journalists in Brazil's capital Brasilia on Friday evening.

She says the World Cup has been widely hailed as a great sporting success and Brazil has shown the world it can efficiently put on the globe's biggest sporting event.

In her words, "We showed that our people know how to have good interaction not only among ourselves but as well with foreigners that we received. As well, we competently maintained peace and order."

The tournament wraps up this weekend, with the title game set for Sunday.
