KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) -- The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it has upheld in part appeals filed by Jamaican sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson.

Powell and Simpson tested positive for a banned stimulant at Jamaica's national trials last year. Earlier this year, a Jamaica anti-doping disciplinary panel suspended the two Jamaican Olympic medalists for 18 months after a doping ban.

On Monday, CAS announced it had decided to reduce their period of ineligibility to six months. That time has already been served.

The two sprinters have been free to compete since June 18 after CAS granted a stay of the Jamaican panel's decisions.

CAS says the full decision will be issued "in a few weeks."

Both Powell and Simpson say they feel vindicated by the court.
