HOYLAKE, England (AP) -- For Rickie Fowler, this is getting downright familiar.

He's not complaining.

For the second time this summer, Fowler played in the final group of a major championship, failed to overcome a big deficit, and settled for the runner-up spot.

That's OK.

Fowler all but locked up a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, which is a pretty good consolation prize.

Besides, Fowler is only 25. If he keeps getting himself in the mix, it seems only a matter of time before he finally breaks through for one of golf's biggest titles.

For now, he'll have to settle for being only the third player to shoot four rounds in the 60s and not win the claret jug. Fowler closed Sunday with a 67, finishing two shots behind winner Rory McIlroy.
