SOUTHAMPTON, England (AP) -- Alastair Cook has been reconfirmed as captain for the third test against India despite England losing seven of its last nine tests.

Cook was named skipper on Tuesday in a 13-man squad with only one change; the uncapped Jos Buttler in for injured wicketkeeper Matt Prior.

Prior announced after the 95-run loss at Lord's on Monday that he was taking an indefinite break from the game to resolve fitness issues. The 79-test veteran, who has been sloppy behind the wickets this summer, has been struggling with Achilles, thigh and hand injuries.

England selector James Whitaker says in a release with the squad announcement that the second test result which gave India a 1-0 lead in the five-test series "was very disappointing," and it was "vital that the squad learns quickly and arrives in Southampton refreshed and ready to perform well."
