Taipei, Aug. 8 (CNA) Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Friday raised the travel alert for three West African nations to the highest level in the wake of the Ebola outbreak there. The ministry said the travel alert to Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone has been upgraded to "red" under its four-color travel advisory system, meaning that Taiwanese nationals should avoid going to the three nations unless absolutely necessary. According to the WHO, the Ebola epidemic began in Guinea last December, and has spread mainly to the West African countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, where the number of Ebola cases on Aug. 4 stood at 1,711, including 932 deaths.
