Taekwondo athletes grab Taiwan's first golds at Youth Olympics

Taipei, Aug. 18 (CNA) Huang Huai-hsuan and Huang Yu-jen grabbed Taiwan's first two gold medals at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing on Monday by winning their respective taekwondo weight classes.

Huang Huai-hsuan captured Taiwan's first gold when she defeated Indra Craen of Belgium 12-5 in the final of the women's under 49 kilogram division.

Huang Yu-jen followed that up less than half an hour later by taking gold in the men's under 55kg division with a victory over Joo Dong-hun of South Korea 7-2.

Taiwanese taekwondo athletes won one silver and one bronze medal in the Games' first full day of competition on Sunday.
