Motech Industries Inc. (6244) released important information Tuesday indicating that the United States Department of Commerce announced on August 18, 2014 a revision of the preliminary results of its anti-dumping investigation. The Department of Commerce will adjust Motech’s anti-dumping duty to 20.86%, lowest among Taiwanese companies. Since the anti-dumping duty for all Taiwanese companies is an average of Motech and battery manufacturer Gintech Energy (3514), the reduction in Motech’s duty has led to the lowering of the duty on Taiwanese companies to approximately 24.23%.

Motech was originally assessed an anti-dumping duty as high as 44.18% by the Department of Commerce decision. Gintech’s duty was originally lowest at 27.59%, making the average rate for Taiwanese companies 35.89%. After the lowering of Motech’s duty, the anti-dumping duty for Taiwanese companies fell significantly and allowed these companies to feel more confident.
