NEW YORK (AP) -- Kenyans Geoffrey Mutai and Priscah Jeptoo will defend their titles at the New York City Marathon.

The 32-year-old Mutai is seeking to become just the third man to win the race three times, joining Alberto Salazar and Bill Rodgers. He won in New York in dominant fashion the last two times the event was held, setting the course record in 2011.

Mutai ran the fastest marathon in history in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 2 seconds in Boston in 2011, which doesn't count as a world record because the course is considered too straight and downhill.

Reigning Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi had already been announced for the men's field.

The 30-year-old Jeptoo won the London and NYC marathons in 2013 but didn't defend her London title in April because of injury.

This year's race is Nov. 2.
