Beijing, Aug. 26 (CNA) Taiwanese actor Kai Ko is expected to be released later this week after being detained in Beijing for allegedly smoking marijuana. The 23-year-old, who shot to fame with the 2011 blockbuster "You Are the Apple of My Eye," was expected to be released around Thursday, 14 days after he was taken into custody by Beijing police. The Taiwanese star was arrested at the Beijing home of Jaycee Chan -- son of Hong Kong actor and director Jackie Chan -- who was also detained for allegedly smoking marijuana in violation of China's laws. Ko's agent, Angie Chai, a producer with several hit TV shows under her belt, including the 2001 Meteor Garden, urged Taiwanese law enforcement personnel not to subject Ko to "a second punishment" after he comes home. Local police have said they are likely to summon Ko for questioning, as Taiwanese nationals who commit offenses in China can be prosecuted in Taiwan.
