Taipei, Aug. 30 (CNA) Kai Ko made a big mistake the first time he lit up a joint two years ago, the 23-year-old actor told a press conference Saturday in Taipei, where he remorsefully apologized for using the drug again this month and ending up detained in Beijing for two weeks. Ko appeared much more composed than he had a day earlier, when he apologized at a press conference in Beijing for setting a bad example. He had confessed in Beijing that his first use of marijuana was two years ago, which he called on Saturday "nothing but a stupid choice," though he denied that he has been smoking the drug regularly. "I will definitely correct my mistakes and start all over again and continue to improve myself," said the Taiwanese actor, who was accompanied at the press event by his agent, Angie Chai. Ko was arrested Aug. 14 by police in Beijing and admitted to smoking marijuana with Jaycee Chan, the actor son of Hong Kong movie legend Jackie Chan. Asked if he will still consider Chan a friend in the future, Ko paused before saying he does. "(Chan) is a very kind person, and he has been taking care of me," Ko said. "We both made mistakes and we will still be friends after we make things better." Chan remained in police custody as he faced the more serious charges of being in possession of illegal substances and providing a venue for others to take drugs. Ko shot to fame both in Taiwan and China after starring in the blockbuster "You Are the Apple of My Eye," for which he won the Golden Horse Award for Best New Performer in 2011.
