Noting the impact of a campaign ploy by Sean Lien and Eric Chu Sunday that played up unity and cooperation between Taipei City and New Taipei City, independent Taipei City mayoral candidate said Monday that he made a similar proposal to Eric Chu. Ko said he suggested that he and Chu might take a ride on the 307 bus line and talk about political matters, but the idea was nixed by Chu, who pointed out that campaigning was not allowed on public transportation such as the MRT or the bus.

Eric Chu took a jibe at Ko during his mini-tour with Lien on Sunday. He pointedly noted that "someone has a few ideas about what to do with the 307 bus line.” Told that Ko might be interested in discussing adjustments in bus routes and other changes, Chu was dismissive, saying, “Ko Wen-je has a lot of ideas, but not many of them will ever be realized."

The Taipei City Department of Transportation has announced that after the Songshan MRT Line opens at the end of this year the routes of the 307 and Songshan bus lines will be adjusted where they overlap on Nanjing East Road.

Asked by reporters whether Chu and Lien’s action in taking the Taipei MRT to Xinzhuang Station Sunday was in contradiction to the ban against campaigning on public transportation, New Taipei City Government spokesman Lin Chieh-you replied that the two candidates were simply traveling to a political activity and did not discuss any election-related issues while on the MRT.
