Premier Lin Chuan said Friday that with the DPP taking office again, the party will take the opportunity to demonstrate its ability to govern the nation, and lead the nation towards progress.

The new premier on Friday attended the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislative caucus meeting, alongside Vice Premier Lin Hsi-yao, Secretary-General Chen Mei-ling, and Spokesman Tung Chen-yuan.

Lin Chuan will present his first administrative report at the Legislative Yuan May 31.

During his speech at the meeting, the premier said he has not set foot in Legislative Yuan since he stepped down as the Minister of Finance in 2008, but he felt good coming back this time given the DPP achieved its first-ever majority in the Legislature.

Lin said the meaning of being majority in the Legislature is to be able to follow through on the party’s public policies, and a good opportunity for better communication between the executive and legislative branches.

The premier added that it would be impractical to think that all problems the nation has could be solved altogether, but as long as the administration faces them upfront, the party will be able to demonstrate its ability to govern the nation and lead the nation towards progress and development.
