Sea warning for Typhoon Megi expected at 23:30 Sunday

A sea warning and a land warning for Typhoon Megi will be issued for Typhoon Megi on Sunday midnight and Monday noon, respectively, and the storm is likely to envelop all of the island on Tuesday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

Megi, the 17th of this year's typhoon season in the Pacific, is now located 1,310 kilometers east-southeast of Taiwan's southernmost tip and was moving in a west-northwesterly direction at 24 kph., according to the CWB.

A land warning is now likely to be issued on Monday, the bureau said, and it warned the public to take precautions.

Starting from Monday, areas in Taiwan's northern and eastern parts will be affected by Megi's periphery, with increased chances of rain, it forecast, warning that the typhoon will come closest to Taiwan on Tuesday and Wednesday.
