The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) lifted sea and land warnings for Typhoon Megi at 8:30 Wednesday, while outlying Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu islands remain on alert as strong rain and gusty winds persist in those areas.
As Typhoon Megi entered Fujian Province in southeastern China, a new typhoon has formed in the northeastern Pacific. There are two typhoons in Pacific region at the moment, the Bureau said.
Typhoon Chaba, the 18th typhoon this year, formed Wednesday at 2 a.m. and the eye of the typhoon is now located 14.7 degrees north latitude, 150.1 degrees east longitude, moving west at 21 kph., according to the CWB.
