The Taipei Chinese Orchestra under the baton of Lee Ying will romance lovers at a Valentine's Day concert at the Chung Shan Hall in Taipei on Saturday, February 14.

Don't just express your feelings with roses and chocolates. Buy concert tickets costing from NT$500 up and have the option to express words of love for eventual projection at the venue during the concert. Or say those tender words for on-the-spot taping before the start of the program. Such emotional outpourings will be broadcast between selections later during the concert. For details, call tel. (02)23832170 ext. 303 or 305.

The repertoire on this romantic evening will include soundtracks from movies and TV dramas based on the love novels of popular writer Chiung Yao (Qiong Yao). ]

Themes from "The Titanic," "Somewhere in Time," "Phantom of the Opera" and "The Little Mermaid" will also serve as beautiful reminders of enduring love stories and capture the mood on the day of hearts.

Conductor Lee Ying's arrangements of "Unchained Melody" and "Nine Hundred and Nine Roses" with the latter to be played with the Chinese suona will also be among the highlights of the concert.

As guitar music is often associated with love and romance, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra has decided to invite young guitarist Steve Lin to collaborate with the TCO. Lin, a winner of guitar competitions in the U.S., will play Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" Concerto for Classical Guitar and C. Guastavino's "Jeromita Linares." The guitar selections promise to put everyone in the mood for love.

Ticket prices start at NT$200. Call tel. (02)33939888.
