A small group of Argentines pelted a bus from Chile with rocks and sticks over fears that a man on board was bringing swine flu into their town, authorities said Friday.Angered over radio reports that one of the 43 passengers exhibited flu symptoms at a border checkpoint, residents of Godoy Cruz in Mendoza province surrounded the bus at a hospital the previous night, health official Pedro Masman told Todo Noticias television from Mendoza province.
"Get them out of here!" and "Take them somewhere else," they yelled while throwing stones at the vehicle. Police fired rubber bullets at the group, which numbered more than a dozen. One protester and six officers suffered minor injuries, official news agency Telam reported.
The 29-year-old Chilean man was tested and determined not to be infected with swine flu, Mendoza hospital director Maria Bresca said.
Argentina has confirmed just one case of the virus, while neighboring Chile has 24 _ leading Argentine officials to screen travelers for viral symptoms and causing some worry among border-town residents.
