San Salvador, El Salvador, May 29 (CNA) A spokeswoman for the World Vision El Salvador chapter said Friday that her chapter will express gratitude to Republic of China first lady Chow Mei-ching for her support when she visits the charity during her June 1-2 trip to El Salvador.

"The visit has special meaning, " said Katia Dalila Maldonado de Lopez in an interview with CNA at World Vision El Salvador headquarters.

She said Chow's visit is expected to help promote ties and cooperation between the World Vision's El Salvador and Taiwan chapters.

Chow is accompanying President Ma Ying-jeou on a diplomatic visit to Belize, Guatemala and El Salvador. They arrived in Guatemala Friday after concluding their visit to Belize.

De Lopez also said she will invite a child named Mervin Lopez and his family to meet with Ma and his wife during their stay in San Salvador. Lopez is an 11-year-old El Salvadoran boy who receives financial support from the Mas under World Vision's child sponsorship program.

Traveling at the head of a 158-member delegation, Ma left Taiwan May 26 for the 10-day diplomatic trip to Central America. He will attend the inauguration of El Salvador President-elect Mauricio Funes slated for June 1 before returning to Taiwan June 4.
